Practising Forgetting
I always feel like I’m forgetting something
learning to breathe
being protected
fur like silk
a pen leaking ink
a train heading for the sea
a message left unopened
being fierce
the taste of a sweet I swallowed
a handful of birthdays
being bound
a lie I spat out
a spiderweb before the storm
the last pinky swear
among the things I had to forget to go on living
there I am, left behind
